Wad are promises?
1. A declaration assuring that one will or will not do something; a vow.
---> as refered from www.dictionary.com
Very often we make promises in our lives. Very often we make promises in order to become a better person, example, "I'm not going to get into a relationship cos I wanna do well in my studies."
There are also other common promises such as "Tell me leh, I promise I will not tell other ppl who you like."
There are also promises you made which are what we call inner vows. These promises negatively affect our lives.
So why do promises exist? I've been asking that question myself many times these few days. And I knew why... I finally agree wad ppl say: "Promises are meant to be broken."
I never like that saying, but I can't deny the fact about it... People make promises to gain trust from somebody and when they get what they desire, they totally forget about the promises they once made. And there are more EVIL people who use PROMISES as an EXCUSE.
Dun get what I wanna get across? I shall weave a short story to narrate what I meant.
THE GIRL AND HER LOLLIPOPS
Once upon another time, there lived a pretty little girl. She LOVE to eat sweets and can't live without them... and her favourite type of sweets are LOLLIPOPS!
In this world she lived in, lollipops have human feelings too. They LOVE it when people suck them and sad when people just leave them alone. And magically, you can never suck finish one lollipop in this world.
The little girl loves to suck on different flavours of lollipops. You can see her sucking a orange flavoured lollipop one moment and another moment, sucking on a lemon flavoured lollipop. Den one day, her mum "discovered" her liking for sweet things and told her to stop eating lollipops cos it will cause her to have diabetics. And this little girl feeling sad, PROMISED her mum that she will quit eating lollipops.
Den a few days later, she found a cola flavoured lollipop lying on her school desk. She could see tears in the lollipop eyes cos no one cared to looked at it, so she took off the sweet wrapper and place it in her mouth. She grew fond of it and told the lollipop that she will only eat cola flavoured lollipop for the rest of her life and no other flavours. The cola flavoured lollipop felt very happy that someone liked the way it taste.
For 1 week, the girl only licked and sucked on this cola flavoured lollipop. Every hours, every minutes and every seconds, the lollipop remained in her mouth.
Untill one day, her best friend approached her and ask her: "I thought u PROMISED your mum that you will quit eating lollipop?" and den... this little girl took out the cola flavoured lollipop said to it: "I'm sorry. But I can't spend time with you anymore le," and she placed the lollipop on her table, "but I'll try to have a taste of you now and den."
The lollipop grew sad but it knew that the little girl had no choice. Therefore, the lollipop hardly see the little girl anymore. And occasionally, the little girl would look for this cola lollipop and taste it. But the lollipop hate it and tried to roll off the table. The little girl grew angry and asked the lollipop, "Y when I tried to taste you, you would run away?"
The lollipop told her: "You PROMISED not to eat lollipops rite?" the lollipop felt terribly sad after saying that but it knew that it had no choice.
Weeks passed, and one day... a lime flavoured lollipop came to the cola flavoured lollipop and told it, "the little girl's been attracted to a new flavour lollipop, so sad of you..."
And true enough, the cola flavoured lollipop could see the little girl sucking the new lollipop in her mouth and when she reached home, she would hid it in her pocket.
Deep inside, the cola flavoured lollipop knew she got bored of it a long time ago and used the PROMISE as an EXCUSE...
See how the little girl in this story used her promise as an excuse~
Aiya... so basically I wanna tell those who managed to stay awake after reading the story that ,
DUN BE A LIAR!! COS YOU WILL HURT SOMEONE UNINTENTIONALLY!
